LME copper price drops 77% after data entry error

Latest glitch adds to the exchange’s infrastructure woes

A data entry error at the London Metal Exchange caused a 77% drop in the global benchmark for copper prices.

After the end of the first session in the exchange's famous trading ring on 13 January, the final price was set at $9,130 per ton.
