The London Metal Exchange has turned to one of the architects of its gold and silver trading project to take on a key strategy position that has been vacant since last summer.

Robin Martin, until now managing director for market infrastructure at the World Gold Council, an industry body comprising gold mining companies, will become the LME's head of market development.
