Boris Johnson postpones UK lockdown ease on infection fears

Data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows infections are increasing in communities in England. The ONS estimated that 35,700 people in England had coronavirus

The UK’s prime minister Boris Johnson has decided to postpone the easing of coronavirus restrictions due to be lifted this weekend.

Speaking at a televised 31 July news conference, Johnson said that as the number of coronavirus cases has started to creep up across the UK, the government would be postponing its decision to relax a range of lockdown restrictions by two weeks.
