London hospitals are admitting over 800 coronavirus patients a day, a “very serious” situation, the chief executive of NHS England.

“The situation in London as well as across parts of the south east and increasingly the rest of the country given this new variant is very serious,” said Simon Stevens during a 7 January press conference alongside UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. “We are seeing over 800 patients a day being admitted to London hospitals with coronavirus.”
