The mayor of London has said the UK capital is not receiving special treatment from the government to let it stay in a lower tier of restrictions than its number of coronavirus cases merits.

Official data showed the daily number of new people who tested positive for Covid-19 in London was 2,550 on 9 December and the latest number of patients in London hospitals was 1,666.
