London reaches a ‘tipping point’ in Covid-19 cases

The Public Health England director called on residents to make a 'continued conscious effort' to keep the virus under control

London has reached a “tipping point” in the spread of coronavirus, the capital’s regional director for Public Health England said, as cases soar and hospital admissions rise.

The public health official’s comments follow the news that the city, which was designated an “area of concern” on 25 September, has the highest rate of admissions into intensive care units in the country.
