The London Stock Exchange has appointed a new chief executive of FTSE Russell, its $16tn index business that is an increasingly important source of revenue for the company.

The LSE said on January 22 that Waqas Samad will replace Mark Makepeace as group director of its information services division, which houses FTSE Russell.
