London Stock Exchange strikes deal to expand ESG index business

LSE has bought a French company that rates businesses on their environmental, social and governance credentials

The London Stock Exchange has bought a French company that rates businesses on their environmental, social and governance credentials as it looks to develop new indices for its FTSE Russell unit.

The LSE announced its acquisition of Paris-based Beyond Ratings in a statement on June 3, saying the deal was in response to “rapidly growing demand” among asset owners to take ESG factors into account when devising investment strategies.
