London suffers from listings famine

Volumes fell 17% last year and bankers see little sign of a recovery this year

Initial public offerings in the UK dropped 17% last year and bankers have said there is little sign the market will take off this year.

The number of IPOs listed on the London Stock Exchange and its junior market Aim, fell last year from 53 to 44, and only seven of these were on the main market. PricewaterhouseCoopers said the listings raised a combined £12.2bn.
