The mayor of London has called for the capital to be placed under Tier 2 rules, in which pubs and restaurants may only serve alcohol alongside a “substantial meal”.

Sadiq Khan's call comes ahead of health secretary Matt Hancock providing MPs with the details of the tiers, in the House of Commons later today. Hancock will reveal which regions will be placed under which tiers under the government's patchwork lockdown system.
