Lords back pension schemes on sub-underwriting

The House of Lords has backed the BT and Post Office pension schemes against the Inland Revenue, concluding that the Revenue cannot tax the income the schemes earned from sub-underwriting share issues.

The Lords refused the Revenue leave to appeal against the Appeal Court's judgment, made this February, in favour of the schemes.
