LSE moves to re-energise derivatives markets

Trading across the London Stock Exchange's Italian and UK derivatives markets has slumped this year

The London Stock Exchange Group has laid out plans for revitalising its UK and Italian derivatives markets, which have both suffered from falling volumes this year.

LSE Group subsidiary Borsa Italiana is launching new Italian contracts on October 7 that will help traders avoid a double charge from Italy's financial transaction tax, as well as announcing changes to its post-trade service. The news comes a day after the exchange received "recognised investment exchange" status for its UK derivatives market.
