LSE plans thrust into continental Europe

The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is planning to go head to head with Deutsche Börse and Euronext by competing for trading in continental European stocks.

Don Cruickshank, LSE chairman, said it would provide a 'European-wide service' offering trading, clearing and settlement across Europe. The LSE is due to launch its new strategic thrust in March.
