A senior Barclays Capital banker – and former director at the Financial Services Authority – is one of a trio of new appointments to the board of the London Stock Exchange, as the UK bourse continues to overhaul its business in the face of fierce competition.

The LSE today said that Gay Huey Evans, who is currently a vice-chairman of investment banking and investment management at Barclays and has most recently been managing sovereign funds, will join the group's board as independent non-executive director.
