Theresa May’s leadership has been likened to a “second rate horror film”. Ministers are engaged in almost open civil war with Michael Gove now accused of using cabinet meetings to “audition” to be the next chancellor.

Yet compared with the board of the London Stock Exchange Group, May’s cabinet seems a model of harmony and effective governance.
