The chief executive of the London Stock Exchange earned £5.7 million (€6.5 million) last year, edging him ahead of his counterpart at Deutsche Börse.

Xavier Rolet's pay package comprised a fixed sum of £1 million and "pay for performance" of £4.7 million, according to the LSE's annual report published today. This meant his total pay fell from £6.5 million in 2015.
