Australian bank Macquarie, which has been building its European operation, is set to initiate a search for a new head of European equity research after the incumbent handed in his resignation to move to Sydney.

Scott Ryall has handed in his notice as head of European equity research, according to a source close to the situation, having decided to return to Australia with his family. Macquarie declined to comment.
