Magic Circle law firms should consider following professional services giant EY by spinning-off parts of their businesses to better compete against US rivals, according to ex-Slaughter and May senior partner Christopher Saul.

Last week broker Arden Partners called on the UK's leading law firms to seek US mergers or move to the mid-market, as they had lost their fight with elite US players.
