A culture of fear, unnecessary red tape and insecure bosses who mistreat their juniors are some of the most striking complaints that people working in finance have about their managers.

While about 90% of respondents to the FN's latest job satisfaction survey said they had a good working relationship with their manager, many respondents - particularly those new to the industry - complained about poor management, pointing to a lack of communication that led to fear among staff.
