The fund management unit of Canadian insurer Manulife is planning to more than double headcount in its London office and is eyeing European acquisitions.

Kai Sotorp, chief executive of Manulife Asset Management, said: "We're on the move in Europe." He sees "a vacuum" of North American asset managers in Europe beyond the largest fund firms.
