Former Bank of England governor Mark Carney said his job as a central banker was “much easier” than that of government during the various crises the world has endured, and will continue to face.

The economist was giving the first in a series of lectures as part of the BBC’s Reith Lectures series, discussing how society has come to pride financial value over human value, turning society into a market itself.
