Former Bank of England governor Mark Carney has been appointed to the advisory board of Pimco, joining a renowned line-up of former central bankers and economists who advise the US bond giant.

Carney, who is also the UN Special Envoy on climate action and finance, will sit alongside former British prime minister and chancellor of the exchequer Gordon Brown and ex-president of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet.
