Mark Mobius, the executive chairman of Franklin Templeton's £21bn emerging markets group, is bringing his long handover to a final close with plans to retire from the company at the end of January.

Mobius, who is 81, launched one of the first funds investing in emerging markets in 1987, and has become one of the best-known advocates for investment in the world's developing economies.
