Euronext, the pan-European stock exchange, has appointed Miguel Athayde Marques, a board member of Portuguese bank Caixa Geral de Depósitos, as chairman and chief executive of its Lisbon arm.

He replaces João Freixa who resigned in September after just six months in the job.
