Short bets by hedge funds against Wood Group, Aston Martin and THG are paying off

London hedge funds Marshall Wace, Qube Research and Systematica Investments are eyeing big profits as UK stocks hit their lowest level in three months.

The hedge funds stand to gain from short positions against UK companies such as retailer THG, luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin and engineering firm Wood Group, which have all seen their shares tumble amid a wider market rout.
