Martin Currie, the Edinburgh-based fund manager, has appointed Willie Watt as chief executive.

Prior to this appointment, Watt was with the private equity firm 3i Group for 16 years, most recently as managing director of its businesses in Ireland and Scotland. He was also a member of the company's UK management group.
