Martin Gilbert has temporarily stepped back as a non-executive director at mining giant Glencore so that he can focus on the takeover battle for British broadcaster Sky, where he serves as deputy chairman.

Gilbert is best known as one of the co-chief executives of investment firm Standard Life Aberdeen but also serves on the boards of the two FTSE companies.
