Martin Gilbert to retire from Standard Life Aberdeen

Departure of vice-chair in September 2020 will end one of the longest and most celebrated careers in UK finance

Martin Gilbert is to retire from Standard Life Aberdeen, the £577bn investment company he helped found more than 35 years ago.

SLA said on October 2 that vice-chair Gilbert would not seek re-election to the board at the company’s next annual general meeting and would retire on September 30 next year.
