MassMutual, the US financial services giant and parent of Baring Asset Management, has called in the Massachusetts attorney general to investigate allegations connected with its former group chief executive Robert O'Connell who was dismissed two weeks ago.

A spokesman for O'Connell said in a statement yesterday that he denied any wrongdoing and intends to dispute and challenge the actions of the MassMutual board.
