Matis snubs Commerzbank as Dalman quits for hedge fund

Wolfgang Matis, head of global markets at Deutsche Bank who was widely expected to replace Mehmet Dalman as head of investment banking at Commerzbank, has not taken the job. Senior bankers had expected him to sign two days ago.

Deutsche Bank confirmed on Friday that Matis is still its head of global markets in Germany. The bank declined to comment on whether he had been in discussions with Commerzbank. Commerzbank said in a statement: "Mehmet Dalman (46) will leave the bank on his own wish. Mr. Dalman departs in mutual understanding with the bank and plans to seek new challenges. Until a replacement is found, board member Klaus M. Patig (60) will assume these responsibilities. The bank is now holding talks with potential successors."
