Prime minister delivers speech at event to mark 20 years of independence for the UK's central bank

Prime Minister Theresa May launched a staunch defence of free markets this morning during a speech to mark 20 years of independence for the Bank of England.

May told an audience at the central bank that free and open markets are "the greatest agent of collective human progress ever created".
