David Mayhew, the chairman of Cazenove and one of the UK's most senior bankers, has been brought in to advise the board of Standard Life, the financial services group which plans to demutualise and float.

Standard Life, Europe's largest mutual, has recently added Cazenove to existing list of advisers which includes UBS and Lazard, appointed earlier this year to undertake a strategic review of the business.
