Merrill Lynch has lost its head of European, Middle East and Africa research to Bridgewell Group, the UK investment banking boutique.

Rennie McConnochie has left the US bank to be chief executive of Bridgewell Securities. Merrill Lynch declined to comment. A source close to the bank said Merrill Lynch is deciding on a replacement which could be announced as early as next week.
