Fergus McLeod, the top oil analyst who left Deutsche Bank shortly after its takeover of Bankers Trust, is joining BP in June as head of investor relations at the oil company.

McLeod dominated oil and gas research in the 1990s and was rated top analyst in the City of London for six years running. He left in 2000 and set up a private consulting business.
