Italian group Mediobanca has hired a second former UBS banker as part of its expansion strategy. He will run the bank's new office in New York which will open early next year.

Pierluigi Gastone will run Mediobanca's new US office, which will be staffed by a team of up to three people initially, according to Italian daily Il Sole 24 Ore.
