When Charlie Jacobs joins JPMorgan to lead its UK investment bank this summer the current Linklaters senior partner will be something of an outsider as he makes the jump from law to dealmaking.

But the 54-year-old South African, once a regular in Linklaters’ inter-firm cricket matches, should fit in at JPMorgan, which is led in Europe by cricket-mad Viswas Raghavan, who has been a key driver of the bank’s sponsorship of Lord’s cricket ground.
