Lee Shavel, who advised Nasdaq OMX on its counterbid for NYSE Euronext and helped to put together financing for the bid while at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, has joined the exchange operator as its chief financial officer.

Nasdaq OMX said in a statement yesterday that Shavel has been appointed chief financial officer and executive vice president of corporate strategy effective from May 23.
