Just a year after joining the Royal Bank of Scotland as chief executive for UK retail, Ross McEwan has been promoted to one of the toughest jobs in banking. But he is no stranger to demanding roles.
The 56-year-old Kiwi is to succeed Stephen Hester as the new chief executive of RBS in October. His annual salary will be £1 million, and he will take no bonus for the remainder of 2013 and 2014.
