Mellon scoops Scotland's Walter Scott

Mellon Financial, the Pittsburgh-based financial services group, has acquired Scottish fund manager Walter Scott & Partners for an undisclosed sum.

The Edinburgh-based firm, which was set up by fund manager Walter Scott after he quit Ivory & Sime in 1983, manages about $27bn (£14.3bn) in global and international strategies for mainly blue-chip US clients.
