Chris Evans, an investment consultant within William M Mercer's London practice, is leaving to join Barclays Global Investors (BGI) as head of defined contribution pensions client service.

Evans will start at BGI on Monday, 22 January. He will be responsible for four client service directors, taking the position formerly occupied by Hugh Cutler who has been promoted to lead the European institutional team.
