Merrill banker suspended after refusing to testify

Schuyler Tilney, head of energy in Merrill Lynch's investment banking division in New York, has been placed on administrative leave after refusing to give evidence to the Senate committee investigating Enron's collapse.

Tilney was expected to testify before the Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations on July 30. This committee also questioned executives from JP Morgan and Citigroup last week.
