Merrill fined $80m for Enron dealings

Merrill Lynch has been fined $80m (€75m) over its dealings with Enron, the bankrupt energy group, as part of an agreement reached with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Merrill and the SEC have reached an agreement in principal in which Merrill will neither admit nor deny wrongdoing in the controversial buying and selling of Nigerian power producing barges in 1999.
