Merrill Lynch has lured Mads Asprem from Morgan Stanley Dean Witter to be global co-ordinator of paper and forest product research.

The appointment comes in the wake of Alastair Irvine's move from the global co-ordinator position to join Merrill Lynch's European research management team as deputy director of pan-European research marketing.
