Merrill Lynch forecasts credit market recovery in 2002

The prospects for the European credit market are set to improve next year, according to Christopher Francis, manager of international credit research at Merrill Lynch in London.

Francis said: &quotFrom both a borrower and an investor perspective, we expect the market to be more constructive. The economy has probably bottomed out and a recovery should be seen next year. Credit indicators tend to follow economic trends, albeit at a slight lag.&quot
