Merrill Lynch has shifted its head of European equity capital markets to run investment banking for Germany and Austria, taking the number of senior banking appointments for its Frankfurt office to six in recent months.

Flavio Valeri, who joined from Deutsche Bank in 2001, will take up the position as head of Merrill's investment banking division in Germany and Austria at the start of next year.
