Merrill to merge debt, equity and M&A businesses

Merrill Lynch has taken a big step towards integrating its debt and equity underwriting businesses with corporate finance in its latest management reshuffle.

The investment bank is separating its underwriting business from sales and trading and instead linking it with corporate finance. The changes are part of a bid by Merrill to better co-ordinate sales of its major investment banking products to clients around the world.
