CFTC pleas for more money after MF Global collapse

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, one of the regulators in charge of overseeing collapsed broker MF Global, has warned it lacks proper funding

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, a regulator that had been tasked with policing collapsed US broker MF Global, has warned that it will not be able to properly regulate the country’s futures and options markets unless extra funding is forthcoming.

Last month, US Republicans blocked a proposed $103m increase in the CFTC's budget and its annual funding for 2012 will remain at around $200m.
