The Financial Conduct Authority has appointed M&G Investments' chief executive Anne Richards as the new chair of an industry panel designed to sanity check the regulator's work.

Richards will take the top spot on the FCA's practitioner panel in August, according to a statement from the UK markets watchdog. She will be replacing HSBC's UK and continental European chief executive officer António Simões, who has been the panel's chair since mid-2015.
