Health secretary Helen Whately is to hold a meeting with London MPs to discuss coronavirus restrictions for the region, as local leaders push for the capital to enter a higher alert tier.

The meeting, set for 9:30am on 15 October, will be followed by similar discussions with MPs from Manchester which is already in the “high” alert tier, Sky News reported.
