Minority stakes drive alternative investment mergers and acquisitions

Announced mergers and acquisitions of alternative investment firms reached record levels for the first half of the year, driven partly by minority stake sales in these businesses, according to a new report.

Sales of alternative investment firms accounted for 37% of the 105 global investment management deals for the first six months of this year, according to the report by investment bank Jefferies’ asset management and financial technology unit Putnam Lovell.
